SEO: The Yahoo Site Explorer Badge

Yahoo! Has a sweet little deal of a tool for all you who care about how many links are going back to your website or even to a particular page on your website. It’s called a “Badge”, maybe it’s the SEO badge of courage or maybe it just plain fun.

Yahoo explains the neat tool like this “Add a live badge to your blog or website that queries Site Explorer for the number of links to your site or page on the web. Select the type of link counts you want, the size and look of the badge and then cut and paste the code to your web site.” It can be found at http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/badge

I have also included the sweet little Badge of courage on this blog post for your viewing pleasure. The reason why I like using Yahoo! for back link searches instead of Google is simply because Yahoo! gives me more information than Google does. However, if you have a Google webmaster account you should be seeing a lot more than you would with a simple Google query. But that really doesn’t work for us SEO firms who need to do competitive analyses for our clients.

Have fun with it, cheers!

  1. Oh shoot it looks like these “badges don’t work in my blog post . I bet they need to be in my footer or something. All well, I hope they work for you. Cheers, – Bart
