GoDaddy.com ”CashParking”, all you need is a domain name to make money

At the following link you can sign up for GoDaddy’s “CashParking” program. They sell you the option to park any domain name at GoDaddy.com and receive up to 80% of the pay per click revenue. However their prices are fairly steep. Office rumor has it at Provo Labs, that place where I do my professional duties; we own something like 3,000+ unused domain names. So I was stoked when I found out all I have to do is park them at GoDaddy and they did the rest. A lot less for for me. But imagine my dimay when I found out that they actually charge for the service then intensify that feeling of disappointment when I found that they actually charge you per domain name, ridiculous!!!

In my opinion GoDaddy is in for a big surprise when they realize they are selling a service they should be offering for free. They will not be able to generate enough traffic to these parked domains to generate enough income to keep the CashPakring customer in “the black”. Thus they should be offering the CashParking service as an incentive to use GoDaddy for buying domains, capturing more market share, instead of charging for it. Stupid things like this will actually hurt their loyal customer base.

In the end it’s just a gimmick trying to take advantage of the myths the early internet mentality generated, put up a site and people will come. In this case its even worse, “all you need is a domain name to make money”. Not to mention the fact that anyone can set up Google AdSense on their home page for free, who’s going to pay $3.95 a month to do it.

There could be one saving virtue to this service and that is how much do they charge the advertiser for the click? I mean 60% of a $2 click is much better than 20% (what I average on AdSense) for a $0.20 click. Bluehost.com said they will soon become a registrar. Maybe this is an idea they should develop!

That’s a great blog thanks for the info on that. I hear BlueHost.com is really becoming a larger and larger player in the Hosting Arena. It’s good to hear that they are adding other revenue streams. Thanks Richard!

The cost is per account, not per domain. You can have an unlimited number of domains enrolled. Read their FAQ. So enrolling your 3000 plus domains, while not free, is really still a bargain.

Thanks for the update, they must have changed their policy. I wa called on the phone personally, before they rolled out their big marketing engine on it. I guess I they wanted to see what I would say.

It would be nice to see if I could get some extra cash for my boss. I’ll have to look into it a bit more. Again thanks for the update.
