I hired a logo artist by the name of Jennifer Gildea, working from Delaware; she has her own company and can be found at www.designsthings.com. She has been a pleasure to work with and I feel horrible that I have yet to send her, the check I have promised. I just keep forgetting to put it in the mail.
She has so graciously designed 3 logo concepts for at the price of $225.00. Yes it’s not the cheapest price nor is it as expensive as the LogoWorks.com silver package of $299.00. She gave me 3 concepts and 3 revisions. But I feel that it was money well spent. I did get one designer with Jennifer, with logo works I would have had 2, she gave me 3 concepts Logo Works will give me 4, she gave me 3 revisions Logo Works only gives me 2. Yes I could say that LogoWorks.com could have been the better choice, but working with the right designer personally can make all the difference.
When I purchased a design from LogoWorks.com for the UVSC business plan competition I was a little disappointed in fact I spruced the final logo up my self, adding embossing and so forth to make it look 3-D.
Jennifer’s concepts already look 3-D and I am happy with all three of them. I have uploaded them for you to see. Please add a comment and tell me which ones you prefer for a business plan competition website.
Working with Jennifer has been fun and fabulous, she is savvy not only in design & layout but in color and image concepts from a marketing perspective.

Yeah, I’ve worked with LogoWorks and have been mostly pleased, but have had somewhat mixed results. LogoWorks has an awesome business model and they give small business owners a way to get a professionally designed logo at a decent price, but as you’ve pointed out, you can also find a designer on your own and maybe even save a few dollars. Design is such an objective discipline (it’s an art form), I find that opinions of quality regarding logos vary so much it’s incredible. It’s not uncommon for 50% of the world to love a logo and the other 50% hate it. Normally, the better direction you give (in terms of style, colors, etc), the happier you will be with the results. If you say “surprise me” or “give me a cool logo”, you will probably be disappointed with the end product.
By the way, I like the bottom version of the first concept.

Dave,
Good to hear from you again. How on earth did you ever find me. I saw your companies website. Seems like you have gathered some awsome clients since we last talked.
I am truly excited for you. Cheers!
